Two weeks more before “The Big Bang Theory” season 9 conclude and the show is gearing for a shocking finale that suggests a hook up between two characters.
Warning: Spoilers ahead
The International Business Times cited some leaked reports that suggested Sheldon’s mother Mary Cooper and Leonard’s father Alfred Hofstadter will hook up. The CalTech professors, Sheldon and Leonard, will be shocked out about it.
Judd Hirsch will be introduced in episode 24, titled “The Convergence-Convergence, as Leonard’s father.
The season 9 finale synopsis reads: “Leonard and Penny get remarried in front of their friends (who show up), Leonard’s parents and Mary Cooper. Sheldon’s mother and Leonard’s father find something in common. Howard gets an unknown email from the Air Force about his invention.”
Showrunner Chuck Lorre talked about Leonard’s father to Entertainment Weekly.
“We talked about Leonard’s father being a very different kind of character than his mother. When you look at Leonard and his mother, and how different Leonard is, well the other piece of the equation is his dad, so you can imagine the space that character has to occupy and who he’d have to be to get a Leonard out of the equation,” he said.
Executive producer Steve Molaro added: “I can tell you that the dynamic with his ex-wife is challenging.”
As usual, Beverly and Mary will not get along as the former is a woman of science and sceptic, whereas Mary is a born again Christian.
The leaked reports further suggest Leonard’s mother and father will not get along, creating more issues in the upcoming episode.
“The Big Bang Theory” season 9 finale airs on May 12 at 8pm EST on CBS.
Meanwhile, the hit comedy show has been officially renewed for season 10 but Molaro teased that “The Big Bang Theory” may not go beyond season 10.
“The reality is that maybe Season 10 is the ending point. I don’t know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can. There’s still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically Season 10 was the end, I wouldn’t be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line,” Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter.
