The rift between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry may have died down already — “Bad Blood” is so last year — but it appears that the two well-loved pop stars will face each other in a new competition again. This time, it is in the aspect of video/mobile app games.
E! Online reports that Taylor Swift is in talks with Glu Mobile Inc. to produce a new mobile game. With this project, Swift will follow the likes of Katy Perry, Britney Spears, and even Kim Kardashian, who have their own personalised mobile games.
According to the website, not much is known about the game at this point. However, it was revealed by Glu Mobile Inc. that the game will be launched late 2016.
GameSpot also relays that the deal between Taylor Swift and the mobile game developer is a multi-year partnership and that the project is being described as a “one-of-a-kind digital gaming experience.”
The website quotes Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi in saying:
“We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience. Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”
GameSpot mentions that Lindsay Lohan and Demi Lovato are also other stars who have mobile games of their own.
The press release by Glu in announcing their partnership with Taylor Swift mentions the singer’s achievements throughout her career, including garnering seven Grammy awards, 25 Teen Choice awards, 22 Billboard Music awards, 19 American Music awards, and 11 Country Music Association awards, among others.
Right now, Taylor Swift is nominated for seven Grammys 2016 including Album of the Year for “1989” and Song of the Year for “Blank Space”.
