Now that it has been confirmed that Clark Kent will make an appearance in the upcoming season of “Supergirl,” it seems like star Melissa Benoist has dropped hints on who will play the Man of Steel.

According to Den of Geek, Benoist confessed she has heard of behind-the-scenes talk on the casting but insisted that she is still not sure if the deals pushed through.

“I have theories,” Benoist. “I have heard a few rumblings of who it may be, but I’m not positive.”

Would Clark Kent be portrayed by Tom Welling? Casting is still underway but if the rumors are true, it would not really be surprising since Welling played Clark Kent in “Smallville,” a long-running show also aired on the CW which told the origin story of Superman.

In other news, according to Movie Pilot, the second season of “Supergirl” will most likely be well-connected to the storyline of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” next season.

The character Snapper Carr will appear on “Supergirl” as a seasoned journalist who will collaborate with Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). Carr, for those who are not fans of the DC comic book universe, is a close friend of Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams of “Suits”), who was introduced in the season finale of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

“Supergirl” was recently renewed for a second season but will move to the CW instead of its previous home network, CBS. Now that it is in the same network with other Berlanti-DC superhero TV properties, it will have more chances of crossover episodes with “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” In fact, rumors are rife that the season premieres of the four shows will be the crossover episode.

The second season of “Supergirl” will debut on The CW this fall.  Who do you think deserves to play the role of Superman? Tell us your thoughts below.
