Upon learning the renewal of hit series “Supergirl,” avid fans rejoiced. But, when reports mentioned that Superman will make an appearance, fans got more excited. And, when “Teen Wolf” alum Tyler Hoechlin finally landed the iconic role, original Superman star Dean Cain knew he had a secret to tell him.
Speaking over Access Hollywood, Cain revealed how he’s excited for the show and its new home. After ending Season 1 on CBS, “Supergirl” announced its move to The CW. Supergirl’s dad added that, “This [season] will be an interesting year.”
Likewise, he knew that people are curious on what he thinks of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. The former Clark Kent said he’s a bit “disappointed.” Did he think Hoechlin isn’t perfect for the role? No, not really. He even gave him a Superman secret.
“Well, first of all, I’m a little disappointed it wasn’t me. I wanted to play two roles. No, Tyler — my first piece of advice for Tyler is — because he seems a little more hairy than me — is that he’s going to have to wax his chest. … You can’t have any hair peeking out over that ‘S’ there, but he gets to play it for a couple, I think maybe 2 episodes or 3 episodes.”
In addition, Cain mentioned a general rule – “work out and stay fit.”
“I don’t mind that there’s new Supermen all the time. It’s a good thing,” he further added. Meanwhile, Tyler Hoechlin knows that he doesn’t need to live up to everyone’s expectations. He promises to carry the tradition but that doesn’t mean there should be room for comparison.
“I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part. I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humor,” Hoechlin told Mail Online.
In another news, former “Wonder Woman” star Lynda Carter also got a role on the second season. Likewise, Dean Cain believes her addition would be “cool” and “interesting.”
“Supergirl” Season 2 airs on The CW at 8 p.m. on October 10.
