Is The CW bringing back Smallville actors to join the Supergirl Season 2 cast? It appears that Supergirl creators are planning to expand Kara Danvers’ circle by introducing new characters, including her cousin Superman.

Showrunner Greg Berlanti is adding five major characters to the Supergirl Season 2 cast. According to TVLine, Lena Luthor, Lex’s younger sister, is being enlisted for a series-regular role. The character is described as a woman within the 25-35 age brackets, who arrives in National City to escape the shadows of his older brother. She is “sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants.”

A character named Nick Farrow will also be introduced as a series regular. He is the son of a famous reported and pegged as a “brash leading man” who wants to make a new from himself in the journalism industry. However, Nick is struggling to free himself from his “former selfish and hedonistic ways.” But the more he hangs out with Kara, the more his inner hero itches to come out.

Other major characters slated to join the Supergirl Season 2 cast are evil villain The Doctor, veteran journalist Snapper Carr, and detective Maggie. Casting for the characters are still underway.

The biggest Supergirl Season 2 spoiler so far is the announcement of Superman’s introduction in the series. According to Comic Book Resources, Clark Kent will appear alongside Melissa Benoist’s Kara in the first two episode of the sophomore season.

“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed in a statement. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

In The CW’s Smallville, the role of Clark Kent/Superman was portrayed by actor Tom Welling. Although the role is still up for grabs, fans of both superhero series are rooting for Welling to suit up as Superman one more time. With his CBS show having been cancelled, the actor has a free schedule this fall, giving him time to film for Supergirl.
