After a lot of buzz about Superman in Supergirl Season 2, The CW has officially cast its small screen Clark Kent. It’s none other than Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin. The super-powered hero, and cousin to Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers, will visit National City in the earlier part of the new season.
Although there’s still no news about Hoechlin’s storyline as Superman, fans of both Supergirl and Teen Wolf are excited to see Hoechlin suit up. In the meantime, here are five reasons why Tyler Hoechlin would make the perfect Superman.
He’s a pro at being the hero
Back when he was still a series regular in Teen Wolf, Hoechlin played the role of Derek Hale, the courageous and selfless alpha of a wolf pack in Beacon Hills. He was the formative leader who is willing to always provide his betas with the guidance they needed. Oftentimes, he took the bullet to save his friends and members of his pack. In more ways than we one, he was Beacon Hills’ figurative Man of Steel.
He’s fit for the role—literally and figuratively
Fans of Teen Wolf have lost count of the number of times Hoechlin went shirtless on the show to show his gloriously ripped bod to the world. What’s more, he’s super athletic. He plays baseball and basketball.
In real life, Hoechlin also tries to be his own Superman by following the rule of law.
With that said, fans are assured that he’s more than ready to take on tough villains in Supergirl Season 2.
He looks great bespectacled!
Superman’s disguise as Clark Kent will not be complete without his signature spectacles. Hoechlin has made several public appearances wearing glasses and he looks like an adorable, hot nerd.
It’s his second time to portray a writer
This won’t be Hoechlin’s first time to play the role of a writer. According to The Wrap, the 28-year-old actor is set to play Boyce Fox in Fifty Shades Darker. Fox is the first author Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) signs at Christian Grey’s publishing company. Certainly, Hoechlin has the props to pull off Clark Kent, one of The Daily Planet’s most notable reporters.
Supergirl showrunner Greg Berlanti wants him as Superman
When it comes to the DC Comics television universe, producer Greg Berlanti has done no wrong. When he says a person is perfect for this role, then that person is perfect for that role. In a statement, Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that he and Berlanti “have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman.”
“We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character,” Kreisberg added, as quoted by E! News.
