Everyone is as excited for the Super Bowl Half Time show as they are for the actual Super Bowl. Everyone was already abuzz when it was announced that Coldplay will be this year’s performers. But the excitement nearly doubled when it was revealed that Beyonce will perform with the British rock band.
Since the singer is just guest performing, fans thought Beyonce will only show up to perform her latest collab with the band “Hymn for the Weekend.” However, Beyonce might be planning to perform twice. And she might even debut two brand new songs off yet-to-be-released album!
According to Hollywoodlife.com, fan sites report that the singer added new songs to the set list. Not only that. She even refused to practice over the loudspeaker at the Super Bowl rehearsal. This was done, reportedly, so the new songs couldn’t be recorded and leaked.
Meanwhile, headliners Coldplay is prepping for their own “left shark” moment, the National Football League reported. Speaking at a press conference, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin revealed their plans for their performance.
“We decided we’d play all our No. 1s and work out how to fill the other 10 minutes,” Martin joked, according to the NFL. This is in reference to their song “Viva La Vida,” the band’s only No. 1 hit in the United States.
Beyonce is set to join Coldplay in their performance at the halftime show of Super Bowl 50. Their video for “Hymn for the Weekend,” was released late last month. In it, Beyonce was shown dressed as a Bollywood goddess. Critics accused Coldplay and Beyonce of “cultural appropriation.”
Beyonce headlined the Super Bowl Half Time in 2013.
Super Bowl 50 will be held this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Aussie fans can catch the action on Monday, 10:30am. US Sports Down Under previously came up with a list of the best places in Australia to watch the game.
