Adele’s was the most successful carpool karaoke video so far with James Corden. It kind of put a renewed spotlight on the segment in his show, “The Late Late Show With James Corden.” Then there was Coldplay’s Chris Martin on his way to the Super Bowl and who sang in the car with Corden. Now, the segment features Sir Elton John.
In the post Super Bowl episode, James Corden was joined by the “Circle of Life” singer on a rainy day for a drive in LA. In a particularly chatty session, the two belted out some classics like “Your Song,” “Crocodile Rock” and “Tiny Dancer,” reveals news.com.au.
During the course of the segment, James Corden and Sir Elton John discuss the fact that the latter has always had some amazing flamboyant looks over the years. US Weekly reveals that the perennial showman that he is, Sir Elton John was excited to share some of his colourful costumes with Corden, his celebrity chauffeur. They even wore a lion’s mane when the pair sang to Lion King’s “Circle of Life.”
Later in the segment, Sir Elton John disclosed a few things about him like the fact that he doesn’t own a phone. This made Corden wonder if he could legitimately kidnap the iconic singer and there was nothing the latter could do about.
That is not all. Sir Elton John also revealed that he buys four copies of his own albums so that he can have one for each of his main houses. E! News reports that while discussing young talent, John mentioned that he still has an energy of a 20-year-old.
“When you first hear Ed Sheeran or this girl called Grimes, or there’s this girl in Australia called Sarah Blascoe—and whenever you hear something new that inspires you from the young, it makes you feel, ‘I’m going to do that. I want to do that,” he told Corden.
Eventually, the segment had to end. “Oh, my God. If I could tell my 12-year-old self I would be doing this with my life, its head would explode. Thank you so much for helping me get to work. I really appreciate it,” closed Corden.
