Weeks ahead of its release, Suicide Squad keeps dropping hints and spoilers every now and then to make fans excited. Fans are looking forward to Margot Robbie and Jared Leto’s characters, Harley Quinn and The Joker respectively. But aside from them, there’s also the special cameo of Batman star Ben Affleck. Reports mentioned that he’ll be “freaking scary.” Yikes!
Earlier this 2016, Director David Ayer teased details on Ben Affleck’s cameo role. He revealed that it would involve fighting. Well, avid comic book fans know the tension between him and The Joker. So, it’s expected that this rumoured fight will be between the two. And since Jared Leto seems to have fully grasped the antics of The Joker, this is something fans can definitely look forward to.
“We made him fight. He’s awesome (as Batman). … You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world,” Ayer revealed. Now that the release date of the film is almost near, he added new information on the Dark Knight’s role.
Speaking to Collider, the Suicide Squad director mentioned how all Batman movies showed his point of view. Of course, fans have known Batman as the hero who’s into terrorising criminals. But what if it’s the point of view of the criminals? This is what fans should expect, according to Ayer.
“For the first time, we’re seeing Batman from the point of view of the criminals and he’s freaking scary,” he revealed. Collider noted that although Batman has a small role, it’ll be interesting to see a different side of the story.
And for those who think they already know what the movie will be about, don’t be too sure. Ayer said he has “plenty of tricks” under his sleeves. “For me it’s a lot of fun just to see how people try and assemble these pieces because in their minds, they’re a much larger piece of the film than they’re actually saying,” Ayer added.
