Will Stranger Things Season 2 happen? That is now the big question of the show’s fans. But with no official confirmation of the show’s second season, should fans lose hope?
News on the show’s debut on the online streaming provider hit the headlines February of this year. Winona Ryder and the show’s spooky trailer instantly captured fans’ attention. But after season 1 left cliffhangers, fans are hoping that season 2 will come anytime soon.
Screen Rant reported that it seems fans have an impact on the show’s renewal. The publication noted that the show’s style and story captivated the audience with its nostalgic approach. Fans have yet to find out the characters’ futures. Matt and Ross Duffer seems to have planned what’s next for the show. However, Netflix has yet to confirm the announcement of Stranger Things Season 2.
For Netflix Boss Reed Hastings, that shouldn’t be an issue. There shouldn’t even be speculations on its cancellation. He argued that Netflix would be “dumb not to” give a green light to the show’s second season. He explained that they know the impact that the show left to its hopeful fans.
“Because we don’t have advertising we are under a whole different model to not compare all the shows and rank other shows, because it kind of doesn’t matter what everybody loves the most it, matters what you or I love most,” Hastings told The Guardian.
“You can get approximations … if you look on IMDB the most popular TV show right now it’s Stranger Things, so that’s a reasonable proxy. It’s not that there’s no data, just that we don’t give out our data,” he further added.
Meanwhile, should Netflix give them a go for renewal, the show’s creators are ready to be back with bigger plans for the show. Both Matt and Ross would want the show to end on a high note. Hence, they’re not really looking into have more than eight episodes next season.
