Liverpool will play Stoke City in the First leg of the Capital One Cup Semi Final at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday, Jan.5, starting 8 PM GMT.
As per the BBC reports, Daniel Sturridge will miss the first leg encounter versus Stoke City since the strier has been plagued with injuries, lately. Sturridge suffered a minor setback while training following a hamstring injury.
The Reds are now left with just one fit Striker, Christian Benteke, as Divock Origi and Danny Ings are also recovering from injuries. Sturridge played his last match on Dec. 6 against New Castle. He did post on Twitter, “I’m back training and good to go!!” after Liverpool’s win against Leicester on Boxing Day at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp during a press conference stated, “What Daniel has to do at this moment is hard work to be prepared for the things we make in a football game. He had the last complete pre-season a long time ago.”
“In pre-season we load our bodies with strength, energy, all we need for the games and then the problems start.”
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is also likely to miss the encounter due to injury. But it is good news for Stoke City as Geoff Cameron come back to take the field after being sent off it on Saturday.
Liverpool signed Serbian teenager. Marko Grujic, yesterday. However, according to This is Anfield reports, “Klopp denied interest in goalkeepers Timo Horn and Marc Andre Ter Stegen” after signing Grujic.
Klopp complimented Stoke City before the match and said, “They play good football and have many players I know well.”
Reports further stated, that Klopp needs to ensure Xherdan Shaqiri isn’t left one vs. one.
