“Star Wars: Rogue One” actor Mads Mikkelsen made a revelation about the role he will play in the upcoming franchise sequel.
In an interview with BBC’s Sky News, Mikkelsen was asked about his role in “Star Wars: Rogue One” and hastily said he could say “absolutely nothing about it.” However, he proceeded in saying: “I read the script, it was very beautiful, and Felicity’s playing this lovely, strong woman. I play … her … father. And that was too much, I’m sorry.”
The Sky News reporter and crew were noticeably shocked to have actually got an exclusive info out of Mikkelsen unless the actor was intentionally feeding misinformation.
SlashFilm wrote this is one of the very rare occasions that the public was offered information about the characters in “Star Wars: Rogue One.” Hence, there have been doubts if the actor really gave out a spoiler.
As of today, the only new character to appear in the movie is Jyn Erso, which will be played by Felicity Jones. Erso is a young woman commissioned by the Rebel Alliance to fulfil a mission to obtain the blueprints of the Death Star.
There have been rumours that Mikkelsen’s character can be compared to Robert Oppenheimer, who has been known as the “architect” of the atomic bomb. In parallel, Mikkenlsen’s character has been speculated to be the master of similar monstrosity, the Death Star. Eventually, Mikkenlsen’s character will realise the evil he has brought into the universe, SlashFilm wrote.
The site added that it is also unclear if Mikkelsen’s character will forge a partnership with the Rebel Alliance to help Jyn Erso get the Death Star plans, or that if she has any idea that her father is involved with the space station.
Meanwhile, “Star Wars” recently released an impressive first trailer for “Star Wars: Rogue One.”
In the trailer, Mon Mothma will be heard telling Jyn that she has been on her own since the age of 15. So one is led to presume that her father was either killed, captured or had some very important matters to attend to that would force him to leave his daughter behind. Then again, he also might have abandoned her, just as Rey’s parents seemed to in The Force Awakens, BGR noted.
