With how well the “Star Wars” Episode 7 was received by audiences across the globe, the curiosity and anticipation surrounding the next installment are only natural.

This time around fans will get to witness the movie being helmed by Rian Johnson, who will be taking over the director’s chair from J.J. Abrams. As noted by ScreenRant, Johnson started off with the project, while “Star Wars: Force Awakens” was still scoring big at the box-office.

Star Adam Driver, who portrayed Kylo Ren in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in conversation with Entertainment Weekly revealed that the script for Episode 8 is “really great” and jokingly added that the First Order and Resistance still continue to be at war with each other.

He said, “Their temperaments are different. I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There’s a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it’s more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own]. I can’t wait to get on set, just because he’s so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they’ve come up with is really great.”

The main cast will be returning in their respective roles for the next installment and we have director J.J. Abrams to thank for seamlessly bringing back the “Star Wars” series and adapting it to today’s day and age, so that we can continue to experience the galaxy far, far away, for many more years to come.

There is still a little more than a year to go before we will witness the fruits of Johnson’s labour so until then we will be looking forward to the teasers, leaks and trailers until the real thing launches. The marketing paraphernalia should be enough to keep us going until the release of the highly-anticipated Episode 8.

“Star Wars” Episode 8 is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
