The identity of Rey’s father has been the talk of the town ever since The Force Awakens invaded theaters last year. According to the latest buzz, there is a good chance that Ezra Bridger might be the character the fans have been talking about. Let’s see if he is the man we’ve been waiting for to arrive in Star Wars 8.
Those who are familiar with the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels might have a knowledge about Bridger, but for those who do not, here is a description of the character courtesy of Star Wars Rebels Wikia.
Ezra Bridger has a codename of Spectre 6. According to the website, he “was a young Force-sensitive human street urchin living on the streets of the Imperial-controlled planet Lothal’s Capital City.”
The first line of the definition already rings a bell among the movie and series’ viewers. Could he be the father of Rey as both of them are ‘force-sensitive’?
There is also a report that Benicio del Torro will join the pool of Star Wars 8 cast as Ezra Bridger. However, he told Entertainment Tonight that he has no idea whether the character is the father or the villain.
“I don’t know if he’s a villain. People are saying that, but it’s like they read a different script than I read,” he said in September 2015. “It’s nice to keep people in the dark, a little bit of mystery is good. If they want to believe it’s the villain, then good.”
On the other hand, a Reddit user believes that Ezra Bridger might be Snoke. The user elaborated that the dark side has been tempting Bridger, hence the theory. It could also be possible that Snoke is Rey’s father.
Star Wars Rebels might dig in his story deeper, and Stars Wars 8 might tackle the story as well. One thing is clear. This debunks another theory that Luke Skywalker is Rey’s missing dad.
