‘Star Wars 8’: Prince William & Harry Confirmed as Stormtroopers

Star Wars

Last week, it was reported that Prince William and his brother Prince Harry had visited the sets of “Star Wars Episode VIII.” Pictures revealed the two princes on the sets with director Johnson, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, the lead stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and of course Jedi master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) himself. It has emerged that the two princes will actually have a cameo role in the film. They will play Stormtroopers in the film.

The Daily Mail reports that Prince William and Prince Harry secretly filmed scenes as Stormtroopers of The First Order. They have shot a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The scene features a new villain by the curiously Indian-origin name, Lord Vikram (Benicio Del Toro). Star Wars has used Indian names for its characters before such as Ahsoka Tano (Mauryan king Ashoka), King Veruna of Naboo (Varuna, the Vedic god of water) and King Prana (Prana means “life force” or “breath”).

The Daily Mail learned from a source that the two princes were asked to dress up as Stormtroopers while they were touring the sets. “The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set. What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to ‘get suited’ and off they went to the wardrobe department,” said the source.

“The princes dressed up in full Stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of Stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry,” the source added. It is more or less a given that if their scene makes the final cut, we’ll just be seeing them with their helmets on, just like that Daniel Craig cameo. His Stormtrooper character was credited in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as JB-007, which basically screams “James Bond 007,” a respectful nod to his masterful turn as the super-spy character based on Ian Fleming’s writings.

Disney has declined to comment on whether the story regarding the two princes is true but the spokesman for the two royal brothers said that “The princes had a great day showcasing the British talent behind Star Wars.” No matter, fans will definitely be on the lookout for two regal Stormtroopers.

“Star Wars Episode VIII” releases on December 15, 2017 in the US.
