There were speculations about Rey’s connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi right after the end of The Force Awakens. This theory may be true because the latest news claims that the character may return in Star Wars 8.

According to Movie Pilot, avid Star Wars fans along with media websites have been circulating rumors about a spin-off focusing on Ewan McGregor’s iconic character. Lucasfilm has not confirmed the news, but the buzz claimed that there might not be a standalone film for him because of the new saga.
The rumors became stronger when the Trainspotting actor showed interest in returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The production’s Anthony Breznican opened up about the possibility during an interview:
“Um, I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan thing happen beyond Episode IX. Which it would have to anyway because they’re booked up until Episode IX,” he said.
In the end, he said that having the character back could be a big thing on the new saga. He might return on Star Wars 8 or on the next episode.
On the other hand, the plot regarding the upcoming flick revealed that Kylo Ren could defeat Rey and get the lightsaber.
As per another Movie Pilot article, the villain may have had the lightsaber before it found Rey. Hence, it could be the reason why the villain is chasing the young protagonist.
