“Star Wars 8” is set to be out next year yet the hype about it is already rising. Star Wars fans are hopeful for a romance between Rey and Finn but the recent reports suggest otherwise.  It seems that there will be no romance involved and the upcoming episode will be darker.

John Boyega, who plays the dissident stormtrooper Finn shared his insights about the upcoming film on Variety. He allegedly said that director Rian Johnson is cooking up a sort of “darker” theme while working on the movie.

As for his possible romance with Daisy Ridley’s character Rey and fans might be disappointed to know that their relationship is only platonic.

“I mean, we didn’t establish a romance in seven; we never played it that way. Daisy and I, we’re friends. Finn and Rey – they’re just friends,” the actor explained. “Finn is a storm trooper, so he doesn’t really know what’s going on. So the romance thing is something that’s going to be interesting in the next instalment. It’s not going to go the way you think it’s going to go,” he concluded.

A Slashfilm report also stated that it will be better if Rey and Finn will stay friends to stay out of the formula that superhero movies usually have. Besides, there is a thicker plot that Rey and Kylo Ren might have a romantic flair and it would be interesting, as per website opinion.

Meanwhile, details about “Star Wars 8” reveal that Rey could have a scene between Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. According to Making Star Wars, actors Ridley, Adam Driver and Mark Hammill were seen together at Belfast International Airport

The production team began filming in Malin Head and seeing the three of them together could suggest that they might film together as well. Images of the actors trying to “conceal” themselves are posted on the website as well.

“Star Wars 8” kicks off in cinemas on Dec. 15, 2017.
