“Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” may not be in theaters yet but another “Star Wars” film is already gaining buzz.
The film in question is none other than the Han Solo spin-off movie which is yet to gain a title. Cinema Blend reports that the film is scheduled for a 2018 release.
However, although the release date for the spin-off is still a long way, the website details that actors–some really notable ones–have already auditioned to play the role of a younger Han Solo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, looking for an actor who can pass as a younger Harrison Ford may really be a meticulous process since about 2,500 actors have been called on to join the casting aspect of the film. THR also notes that this casting effort is the exact opposite of how they cast roles for “The Force Awakens” because the production team wanted relatively unknown individuals to play the leads.
Nevertheless, We Got This Covered points out that production for the film is scheduled for January 2017, so Lucasfilm and Disney still have a lot of time to contemplate who is perfect for the role from the large pool of Han Solo hopefuls.
Still, the report by Cinema Blend offers an initial review of whether actors who already auditioned for the role is qualified to take on one of cinema’s most iconic characters. The website lists Dave Franco, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller, Nick Robinson, Chandler Riggs, Rami Malek, Tom Felton, Logan Lerman, Ansel Elgort, and Colton Haynes.
From this list, Cinema Blend thinks that Miles Teller (Whiplash), Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf), and Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead) are the most promising contenders given their ability to handle diverse roles and having proven themselves as good actors. However, one must also take note that the list is the own’s website opinion.
The final choice will still be up to the producers behind the “Star Wars” prequel.
“Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” will be out in theaters this December 18 while the untitled “Star Wars” film is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.
