Anna Kendrick received a seal of approval for the Squirrel Girl movie from two brothers who think she would be perfect for the role.
The idea for the Squirrel Girl movie has yet to turn up as a bona fide project under the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thus far, the closest it came was a suggestion to make a hit comedy spinoff of Netflix’s Jessica Jones. Nevertheless, interest in the superhero character grew when Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick volunteered for the role. Newcomer Shannon Purser from the series Stranger Things also targets the role.
Both actresses might have something to offer. However, it would appear that Anna Kendrick has the upper hand over Shannon Purser. Indeed, her supporters are heavyweights in the MCU. Hence, it could provide her with a big edge over other contenders for the role of Doreen Green in the movie. No less than the Russo Brothers endorsed Anna Kendrick for the role.
“It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans,” Joe Russo revealed to Yahoo! Movies. The brothers seemed to give their blessing during promotions for the Blu-ray/DVD release of Captain America: Civil War. This is a big boost for the actress. Prior to this, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright also endorsed Anna.

However, the chances of seeing Squirrel Girl in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War flick might not happen. Anthony Russo revealed their current struggle to work out the story with the current batch of superheroes. Then again, could they be bluffing?
Apparently, 67 characters were on the storyboard of the sibling filmmakers. Joe joked they managed to trim it to 66. Yet the Russo Brothers exercised their fifth amendment rights rather than confirm speculation about Captain Marvel’s possible appearance in the Avengers: Infinity War.
