As “Spider-Man: Homecoming” continues filming in Atlanta, every day there is a new revelation about the movie. The most recent one is Angourie Rice who joins the cast. Since the character details for the Australian actress are being kept under wraps , her addition has stirred up many speculations. Is she playing Peter Parker’s high school crush?
Rice is a pretty new face in the industry. She debuted in the apocalyptic thriller film “These Final Hours.” “The Nice Guy” is her latest achievement, where she appeared alongside Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe (as Gosling’s daughter Holly). Now she will be seen opposite Tom Holland in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
The plot details for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is not yet available but sources say that the movie goes back to Spidey’s high school days. Hence, fans can expect that all events and experiences will revolve around the early life of this superhero. Spiderman’s young life is incomplete without the mention of Liz Allan. Allan is Peter’s high school crush, although they never got together. Liz instead marries Peter’s friend, Harry Osborn. In the original comic series, Liz Allan was described as an attractive, popular girl at the high school of the nerdy Peter Parker.
Going by the theory, can it be speculated that youngster Angourie Rice is playing Liz Allan, spidey’s high school crush?
Tom Holland first appeared in “Captain America: Civil War” as Spiderman. We would like to remind our readers that Holland’s version of Spidey is much younger than the previous ones cast in the “Spider-man” series.
Other cast members (via Collider) in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” include Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. reprising his Iron Man role, Michael Keaton as the villain (reportedly Vulture), Disney Channel star Zendaya, Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Hannibal Buress (Broad City), Abraham Attah (Beasts of No Nation), Donald Glover (Community) and Michael Barbieri (Little Men). These are the ones we know about so far.
The Jon Watts-directed movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is slated to hit theaters July 7, 2017.
