While there are reports about the Sony Xperia Z6 launching in the early months of 2016, more unconfirmed details about the flagship have now surfaced and they are bound to delight many fans.
It appears that the Sony Xperia Z6 will not just consist of 3 models but rather 5 variants, probably to cater to a much wider audience. A recent Weibo leak revealed that the upcoming Xperia lineup might include the Z6 Mini and Z6 Plus along with Z6 Compact, Z6, and Z6 Ultra. No prizes for guessing that the Z6 Mini sits at the lowest rung in the pack. It is expected to sport a 4-inch display. It appears that it will be the year where flagships launch with their mini versions, given that a 4-inch iPhone 7 Mini is also rumored to arrive in early 2016.
Next in line will be the Z6 Compact with a 4.6-inch display, followed by Z6 with a 5.2-inch screen and the Z6 Plus may arrive boasting a 5.8-inch display. Reportedly, the largest display will be strapped on to the Z6 Ultra, which may sport a large 6.4-inch display.
All the models in the Z6 series may come powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset that is also speculated to run Samsung’s upcoming flagship – Galaxy S7. Out of the Xperia Z6 lot, it will be the Z6 Mini that might embed the Snapdragon 620 chip. Also as reported earlier, Sony will be keeping with up with the current trend of smartphones boasting force touch technology and chances are, this new lineup may show-off the company’s own version of 3D Touch.
While the same specs are being predicted by tech aficionados, contrary reports have surfaced as far as the release date of the flagship is concerned. If Sony keeps up with its six-month launch cycle then fans may probably see the new lineup at the Mobile World Congress in February. But it is known that in an interview with Tech Radar, the tech company hinted that the flagship might be launched in the second half of 2016.
Fans can pin their hopes on more information that is bound to surface as the year draws to a close. Keep coming back for more updates on the Sony Xperia Z6 lineup.
