It was only last week that Sony teased a blurred image of what is expected to be its flagship Xperia Lumia Z5 or the Lumia Z5 Compact. Now, a video leak, amid the rumors and speculations, shows off what potentially could be the Z5 models and features an interview with the Olivier Terme, Marketing Director of Sony Mobile Communications.
As reported by Xperia blog, Terme confirms the arrival of three smartphones in the interview, including the Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium. Early last week, leaked images of the Z5 lineup surfaced indicating the phones may come embedded with a fingerprint scanner.
The image shared on the company’s official Twitter page only led to raising a hundred other questions, while hinting at a high-end camera to be one of many features on its upcoming smartphone. Many rumors pointed out at the image being that of either the Z5 or the Z5 Compact.
What is known is that the Xperia smartphones may arrive with a 5.2-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 full HD resolution on Z5, while the Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium could be seen sporting a 4.6-inch screen and a 5.5-inch display, respectively. According to Venture Beat, it will be the Z5 Premium model which could come with the 4K resolution display. If the speculations are to go by then this could be one of the first smartphone hitting the market with that kind of screen resolution.
A 23MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing one, Snapdragon 810, octa-core processor, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage are some of the specs that the Z5 smartphones may feature.
The company is gearing-up to make the announcements as early as tomorrow, just days before IFA 2015 kicks off in Berlin. Chances are the Xperia Z5 line-up will be launched tomorrow and the Japanese tech-company making the announcement a week before Apple’s big event doesn’t seem like much of a coincidence.
Apple has sent out invites for its event on September 9 which could be the launch of the iPhone 7, while September 2 will bring with the official word on the arrival of Sony’s smartphones. Fans should come back for some major updates on the Xperia line-up tomorrow.
