The Mobile World Congress 2016 witnessed the arrival of the Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA. Now comes in the word that the tech giant may be hard at work to deliver the Sony Xperia X Premium device which is expected to boast an HDR screen.
Sony brought us the world’s first 4K display with the launch of the Xperia Z5 Premium. And if the rumours are to be believed then the company aims to launch the Sony Xperia X Premium as the device that possesses the world’s brightest display, as noted by PhoneRadar. According to a report, the word from “confirmed sources” suggests that the Sony Xperia X Premium will wear the tag of being the successor to the Xperia Z5 Premium.
For anyone paying close attention to the devices launched by the company at the MWC 2016, the Z6 lineup had been conspicuous by its absence. Now, with the speculations about the Xperia X Premium arriving as the successor, there have been eyebrows rising over whether the Z series have come to an end with the launch of the Xperia Z5 lineup. However, folks at AndroidPIT received an official statement from the company, which said that “The Z series is not going away. We want to make it clear.”
So while the Z series may continue, chances are fans may not witness the arrival of the Xperia Z6. But as per recent reports, loyalists may well get to see the introduction of the Xperia X Premium. The device is said to have the capability to display 1.07 billion different colours, which is up by 16.8 million than the current smartphones in the market offer. If speculations are anything to go by, then the 10-bit HDR display would support 1024 colour shades of Red, Blue and Green as opposed to just 256 shades of the colours.
Other details on the rumoured spec sheet read out to be a Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU, 3GB of RAM and a USB Type-C port that is expected to become a norm with the upcoming 2016 flagships. Keep watching this space for more updates on the Sony Xperia X Premium.
