‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Casts Tom Hiddleston? 5 Reasons He’s Perfect for the Role

Tom Hiddleston

Is Tom Hiddleston really on board for “Sherlock” season 4? Has the British actor really been cast to play Benedict Cumberbatch’s brother in the hit series?

According to Parent Herald, Hiddleston might just make an appearance in the upcoming season. “Sherlock” co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are reportedly interested in casting him to play the third Holmes brother.

According to Bustle, the existence of a third brother was hinted at in the third season’s finale. Sherlock’s brother Mycroft (played by Gatiss) dropped what could possibly be a clue. “I’m not given to outbursts of brotherly compassion. You know what happened to the other one,” Mycroft said. Could he be referring to another brother?  Could the “High Rise” actor play that brother?

Fans need to hold their horses, however. This rumour remains unconfirmed. However, the Internet is still excited over the possible casting. Below, we round up all the reasons why the British actor is perfect for the rumoured “Sherlock” role.

1. He looks the part.

He might not look exactly like Gatiss or Cumberbatch. But Hiddleston has successfully portrayed an iconic bad brother before. He previously played Thor’s brother Loki in the “Avengers.”

2. His addition could make for an interesting back story.

“Sherlock” is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories. According to Bustle, there is “no record of a third Holmes brother in the books.” He is just “an invention” by a well known Sherlock Holmes scholar. Introducing a third brother in the series could reportedly be “pretty exciting.”

3. He would add to an already strong “Sherlock” fan base.

Fans of the “Thor” actor could become Sherlocked.

4. The world deserves to see Cumberbatch and Hiddleston on screen together.

The two actors previously appeared in the 2011 film “War Horse” together. The world deserves more.

5. He is Tom Hiddleston, period.
