Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes may love Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are dating.

The “Stitches” singer again cleared all rumors regarding his dating life during an interview with Seventeen magazine.

“She’s phenomenal. I love her and she’s so talented,” Shawn Mendes said. “She’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met and super, super-smart.”

However, he quickly added, “We aren’t dating, but musically, she blows my mind.”

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Fifth Harmony singer already confirmed that she’s not in a relationship with the 17-year-old.

“He’s like, one of my best friends,” the pretty 19-year-old singer said. “He’s amazing.”

In another guesting appearance shared by Hollywood Take, Camila Cabello joked that there might have been a chance of taking their friendship to another level if only Mendes hadn’t “friend-zoned” her.

However, Shawn Mendes may have bigger things in mind other than dating anybody, Camila Cabello including.

In the same interview with Seventeen, he said that he’s always had the greatest fear that all of the good things happening in his life will come crashing down any time.

That’s one of the reasons that keep him grounded (he’s not a huge fixture in Hollywood’s party scene), but it’s also the reason why he couldn’t fully enjoy his success.

“My dad always says that I’m a tortured soul because I’m never pleased; I never feel like I deserve what I’ve achieved.”

What he does good, however, is making music. Mendes is very proud of his second album, which he describes as a blend of Ed Sheeran and John Mayer with a pinch of pop.

Meanwhile, for those who are disappointed with the news that Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello aren’t dating, his second album is a bit of a consolation as the singer will touch on his previous relationship (yes, only one). He said that the recording will have “a couple of songs about relationships with girls since fame.”
