Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have not appeared on screen together for half a decade now. But they remain one of the most iconic groups of onscreen girlfriends ever. Will they really come together to make another Sex and the City sequel?
As of the moment, HBO does not have any plans to revive the popular comedy. However, one of the show’s main stars, Sarah Jessica Parker will return to the network with a brand new show.
The actress will star in another HBO comedy, Divorce, as Frances. Like Sex and the City, Parker’s new show will explore relationships. However, instead of trying to find Mr. Right as her previous character Carrie did, her new character Frances will instead explore what might happen after you’ve found the person you thought was Mr. Right.
“This story is different,” Parker explained in an interview with Deadline. “I was always interested in the story of marriage. This automatically is different… [However, the] only time we were really cognizant of distinction was when we started talking about the wardrobe and understanding the obvious connection between a skeleton and clothing. But Frances is so much her own person… She’s so distinct from, not only Carrie, but any other character I had ever played.”
Are you excited to see Parker on television again? You can catch her on HBO every Sunday night starting this October. Her brand new series, Divorce, will debut on October 9 at 10 PM ET/PT.
This has been Parker’s first major TV acting gig since the second Sex and the City movie premiered in 2010. What will the actress do next, though? What other onscreen projects does she have lined up? Will she ever go back for another Sex and the City sequel in the future? No word as of yet to confirm this. Stay tuned for updates.
