Selena Gomez is set to produce her own life story in Lifetime and it may feature her close friends and even ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
The yet-to-be-titled autobiography drama will tell the story of the young singer’s rise from being Disney’s teen star to among Hollywood’s biggest names. The 23-year-old singer started her career in “Barney & Friends” Season 7 in 2002 before she landed the lead role in Disney’s “Wizards of Waverly Place.” Gomez also starred in “Spring Breakers.”
According to Rolling Stone, the series will focus on Gomez’s friends and “trusted inner circle” which include her best friend, Taylor Swift. Vanity Fair added the show may also include Gomez’s career journey, her on-and-off relationship with Bieber, and her struggle with lupus.
No premiere date or casting details have been announced for the drama series.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez’s bio is part of Lifetime’s newly announced “Fempire.” It a roster of TV series and films made for and by women which are all set to premiere this 2016-2017 season, Rolling Stone noted.
According to Billboard, the singer will produce her own bio series along with Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Dana Brunetti (The Social Network), Mandy Teefey, Samantha Droke, and Troy Searer.
Gomez is best known for her on-screen roles but it can be noticed that the actress/singer has been boosting her portfolio behind the camera. Although she also served as executive producer for the “Wizards of Waverly Place” TV movie, Gomez’s upcoming Netflix mystery series, “13 Reasons Why,” marks her first major executive producer role, Entertainment Weekly noted.
It was earlier reported that the “Hands to Myself” singer is leaving acting. However, this is still speculation.
