“Scandal” star Kerry Washington is pregnant with her second baby and it worries fans that this may cause cancellation or delay of the show’s sixth season.

Although the actress has yet to confirm the news, Washington showed off her baby bump as she walked the red carpet at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. over the weekend.

Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed their first child, Isabella, in April 2014. During her pregnancy with her first baby, her “Scandal” character Olivia Pope was always wearing a coat in the series to hide the actress’ belly.

Now that Washington is pregnant again, fans are worried on what will happen to Olivia Pope.

ABC could follow the same path, E! News wrote. The show can use coats once again to hide Washington’s baby bump or cut down the number of episodes like what ABC did in season three. “Scandal” season three only had 18 episodes instead of the regular 22.

E! News added that ABC could also write the Emmy-nominated actress’ pregnancy into the show. Cancellation of the show may not be an option but according to TVLine, there is another way –hold the show until midseason but then Gladiators wouldn’t like it

In a cover story interview for the April 2016 issue of Elle magazine, Kerry Washington opened up about how playing Olivia Pope on “Scandal” prepped her for motherhood.

“Even though Olivia Pope has obviously made the decision that she is not a mom,” Washington said, referencing Pope’s choice to get an abortion, “playing her made me feel like I could be a mom. Because she knows there’s always another way — there’s always a way to fix it, there’s always a way to solve it, to win.”

“I feel like playing her made me feel like, ‘All right, I can do it. I will figure out how to juggle it all,’” she added.

“Scandal” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC. The network is also set to announce its fall lineup during its upfront presentation to advertisers on May 17.
