What happens when you get a surprise guest to visit you and what if the ‘guest’ is none other than democratic presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton?

The stars on the set of Shonda Rhimes’ “Scandal” got the shock of their lives when Clinton visited them on the sets this week. She was on a fundraising trip to Los Angeles and the “Scandal” stars were only happy to have her, informs Entertainment Weekly. She met with the show’s stars like Kerry Washington, Scott Foley, Tony Goldwyn, and Darby Stanchfield.

Shonda Rhimes’ “Scandal” has a plot that will remind everyone of the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky-Hillary Clinton drama. Daily Mail elaborates that the show revolves around the lies and cheating among the political elite in Washington. The show features a President who has an affair with a staff member. Later on, the First Lady decides to run for the White House. It is ironic though that Hillary Clinton would choose to visit sets of this show, given her own personal experiences.

The stars posed for selfies with the presidential candidate. Variety informs that actor Scott Foley captioned, “So, this happened while I was directing tonight. No big deal.” Kerry Washington said, “A good friend came by set today. Proud to say … #imwithher.”

The posts got an overwhelming number of comments from people. Daily Mail quotes that one commenter remarked, “Her being on the set of a show highlighting lies and scandal in DC is fitting #Lifeimitatingart.” Others too were quick to point out the similarities.

“Scandal” will continue to follow the world of politicians. According to Darby Stanchfield, the series will carry on ramping up presidential parallels as the election heats up, reveals Variety. “How Shonda and the writers are setting out their White House climate in ‘Scandal,’ it’s a really fun water cooler show for what’s going on in our country,” she said.
