Popular features such as a microSD card slot and IP67 water resistance, which were missing in the earlier Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones, will find their way back in the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets. Additionally, the phones will be packed with many other inclusions and features which were missing in their predecessors.
And while we are still waiting for an official announcement, a new report claims that both the phones will have different display sizes.
According to Venture Beat, the S7 will have a 5.1-inch display, while the S7 Edge will have a 5.5-inch dual-curved edge display. While both phones are expected to have the same 1440 x 2560 quad HD resolution, they will also feature an always-on display. This is believed to consume about one percent of the battery per hour.
With regards to camera, Venture Beat claims that while there are no changes in the front facing camera, the back camera will see a drop in pixel count up to 12 MP, but will have a better performance in low light situations. The S7 and S7 Edge phone batteries are also expected to receive a boost 3000mAh and 3600mAh respectively. However, they will not be removable or replaceable ones.
The phones are rumored to be powered by Exynos 8 Octa 8890, a system-on-a-chip based partially on an ARM reference design, and offer four high-performance 2.3GHz cores along with four power-efficient 1.6GHz cores.
However, given the number of leaks in communications about Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Tech Radar has advised users to refrain from taking these unofficial reports seriously.
