Announced this month, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is a rugged device with major upgrades which make it arguably better than the Galaxy S7. The new ‘Active’ version from Samsung is not just tough, but has some amazing features. Here is a comparative analysis of both the devices on basis of features and specifications.

Design and Dimension

The major difference between the phones is with regards to their physical appearance. While the Galaxy S7 has a stylish look, molded in glass and aluminum beauty, the Galaxy S7 Active is a rubber clad handset.

Weighing 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm, the Galaxy S7 weighs a mere 152 grams. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Active appears in size of 148.8 x 75 x 9.9 mm and weighs 185 grams.

Display

Although both phones seem to look identical there is a key difference between them. The two devices boast a similar display size at 5.1-inch with 2,560 x 1440 resolutions with 576 pixels per inch. The screen is an AMOLED display guarded with Gorilla Glass 4.

However, the key difference lies in that the ‘Active’ version of the Galaxy comes with a shatter-resistant glass, which is absent in the Galaxy S7. Should the Active handset drop and break, the crack won’t spread across the phone suggesting that you can keep using the handset.

Performance

While both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, dual-core 2.15 GHz kryo and dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo CPUs along with 4GB RAM. However, there is a difference between the two phones, which points out that the Galaxy S7 Active will not get an Exynos variant, whereas the Exynos powered Galaxy S7 is available in America.

Battery capacity

Going by reports of Forbes, the Galaxy S7 has 3,000 mAh battery capacity, which is much lower than Galaxy S7 Active’s 4,000 mAh battery. Moreover, the Active handset supports fast charging and wireless charging. To know more about the Galaxy Active S7, click here.
