Over the years, Samsung has been heavily customising the Android ecosystem to differentiate itself from the vast competition that also offers the same experience. The South Korean tech giant has received mixed receptions over the changes. Some argue that it adds a bit of flavour, while some say it’s riddled with bloatware that no one really uses. That isn’t stopping Samsung, however. The company has just released a new and advanced lock screen UI called Good Lock. The new app offers a more intuitive way of interacting with a Galaxy S7 and it looks like it can deliver.

1. Samsung has been adopting a minimalistic approach when it comes to its UI as of late, and it’s clearly evident especially with the Good Lock app. It’s best to go with it if you plan on going with a first-party solution when it comes to classic designs.

2. Good Lock brings a design shift to the recent app list, lock screen, as well as the notifications shade. The home screen and the settings menu will be pretty much intact. It’s not exactly an app. Rather, it’s an actual update to Samsung’s customisation layer of Android.

3. You can place your favorite widgets right on your device’s lockscreen, allowing you quick access and visibility on the fly. There’s also a customisable app dock on the bottom part of the display for another intuitive way of accessing your apps.

4. Samsung’s Good Lock will let users organise notifications into group folders. They can be dismissed easily with just a swipe to the left, and it can even be saved for later viewing with a swipe to the right.

5. Good Lock isn’t only limited with the company’s latest flagship smartphone. Users can also download it for Samsung’s recent powerhouse devices such as the Galaxy Note 5, as well as the Galaxy S6.
