It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has met its match.
In a report by Forbes, the Huawei Mate 8 could be the new Android phablet that will put the Galaxy Note 5 to shame.
According to the article, the Mate 8 is planned to be Huawei’s flagship device.
Mashable offers an extensive run down of the Mate 8’s specifications. The website reports that the 6-inch phablet comes with a Kirin 950 octa-core processor and a Mali T880MP4 graphics co-processor.
The website further reports that the Mate 8 is equipped with a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The phone will also have different configurations: 3 or 4GB of RAM while 32/64/128GB of storage memory.
Mashable also reveals that the device has a great battery capacity placed at 4,000mAh battery.
Meanwhile, Ubergizmo also relates how the Huawei Mate 8 compares to the previous releases of the company.
In terms of design, Ubergizmo observes that industrial design of the Mate 8 uses an updated version of the design used on the Mate 7 and Honor 7. The website also projects that the Mate 8’s build quality would be very similar to that of the Honor 7.
Apart from the comparison with Huawei’s earlier models, Ubergizmo also notes that the upcoming release comes in black, champagne and mocha and will be powered by the latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
As per the opinion of Forbes, the Huawei Mate 8 will challenge most of the higher-end Android releases. For one, it could go head to head with Huawei’s own Nexus 6P.
Forbes also highlight that the bigger challenge for Mate 8 will be devices from the Samsung line. Among its direct competitors are the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The website points out that in terms of brand recognition, Samsung has the advantage–especially in Western countries.
However, through the promising specs of the Mate 8, Huawei may have found its way to improve brand recognition.
The Huawei Mate 8 is scheduled for release in early 2016.
