After a crushing defeat at UFC 193, the former World Bantamweight Champion is not expected to return any time soon.
Ronda Rousey, suffered a major jolt to her career when the “Preacher’s Daughter”, Holly Holm claimed the UFC 193 title in Australia back in November. Holm not only crashed her out of the competition but also managed to punch some serious blows which proved quite devastating for Rousey.
As per the Fox Sports reports, Rousey is not expected to return for UFC 200 which is scheduled to happen on July 9 in Las Vegas, this year.
Yahoo Sports quoted UFC President Dana White as saying that Rousey needs more time to confirm her availability for the UFC 200 which should be a rematch with Holly Holm.
“The filming of the movie got pushed back,” White said on Tuesday. “She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a time frame where she’d finish before UFC 200, but it would be cutting it too close.”
Ronday Rousey will also host the 41-year-old “Saturday Night Live” on Jan. 23. The report also added that Selena Gomez will join the MMA fighter as the night’s musical guest.
Ronda Rousey has been extremely busy with her schedule in 2015. She is currently filming for “Road House” and her planned project with Mark Wahlberg called “Mile 22.”
The year 2015 saw the release of her two films, “Entourage” and “Furious 7”.
It isn’t sure whether Rousey will leave UFC to become a movie star or focus on her acting skills. According to Dana White she is only taking her time off out of her busy schedule.
“The way I look at this one is, Ronda Rousey has worked her ass off for us for the last three years. She’s been fighting, promoting and building the sport. If anyone deserves the time off, it’s her,” White said. “What that woman has done is above and beyond what anyone has done. I mean, it’s just unbelievable what she’s done in the last three years.
“So when she tells me she wants more time, you know what? She’s got it.”
