Fans awaiting the release of “Rise of the Tomb Raider” on PS4 may have been disappointed with the recent outcome of E3 2016 since no release date has been announced by Square Enix.

As per Push Square, it was not really expected that a release date would be announced on Sony’s press conference. However, dating when “Rise of the Tomb Raider” would come out on the PS4 would have been logical if it were detailed on the PlayStation blog. Still, according to the website, no such details were shared on the blog either.

It is highly unlikely that the release of “Rise of the Tomb Raider” on PS4 would be canceled, but a proper announcement of the game‘s arrival on the console is certainly taking ages.

Another factor that contributes to E3 2016 being a disappointment is that reports a month before the event actually suggested that a “Rise of the Tomb Raider” announcement will be made at the expo.

In an article by Movie News Guide dated May 22, Square Enix was quoted in posting, “We’ve got some other exciting demos lined up on the show floor, but we’ll save those updates for our Road to E3 Part 2 blog, which will feature some exciting Tomb Raider news and details on a few new games that our team has been hard at work on.”

No one knows what exactly Square Enix is thinking about, but one thing is for sure: fans will be there listening when a concrete date is set for “Rise of the Tomb Raider’s” PS4 debut.

On other related news, a Game of the Year (GOTY) edition of the game was reportedly listed on Amazon. However, an updated news from Game Reactor had Square Enix clarifying that the listing only pertained to a local promo and not a GOTY.

Are you patient enough to wait for “Rise of the Tomb Raider” on PS4? How would you feel if the game is pushed back to a much later release date? Air your sentiments in the comments below!

  • Raider of the Uncharted

Agreed. I love Tomb Raider, have done since I was 5, but may patience I’d being stretched to breaking point at this stage.

    • Console and PC Master Race

Meh, there are too many other great games on the way, so I couldn’t care less about ROTTR. I was looking forward to it, but there’s 11 games on my to buy list between August and November (will probly end up being even more games).

  • Jeremy Freeman

They will end up canning it. It’s been done for years, they will concentrate on other games, and act like it never existed. I’ve seen it done way to many times. Look at the almost 9 years that it took to release (a date) for The Last Guardian. They still show other games that were cancelled years ago. On certain sites. Just get it on 360, the same exact experience, and just as fun. Nearly as pretty too. I played and defeated both, so I’m done anyway. But got rid of my XB1.

I have been a loyal Tomb Raider fan right from the start and bought every game making it a success, but they can trash it now for all I care. Uncharted 4 was far superior and gave the loyal fans a real treat. I intend to punish the TR dev for stabbing the loyal fans in the back by taking a corrupt bribe from MS to deny it for short term cash. If it eventually releases on PS4, I will wait a year for a price drop so they get reduced profit from their scam.

They made me wait so I can make them wait. And if the price does not fall, I will buy it second hand so they get nothing. And if I cannot buy it second hand. Good riddance. I won’t buy it at all. The franchise is stained.

If they cancel the PS4 version as a loss maker and then expect us to buy the next Tomb Raider, I will blacklist the franchise and sadly concede that poor Lara is dead due to corporate greed.

If they release it half price at launch with all the DLC included free and optimised for Neo. I may forgive them and buy it at launch. One way or another they have to take their punishment because what they did was unforgivable. We have never received an apology and rightly expect compensation. It’s going to take a lot of sweeties to heal the bitterness.

I’ve waited long enough for Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4! Like the rest of the loyal Tomb Raider & Sony fans! Let us have some good news please!

true tomb raider fans already bought the game on steam or xbox one, you aren’t a true fan imo the fans already got it.

he said, he’s a tomb raider and sony fan at the same time. hope you read the post correctly. plus buying another console just for one game is not practical. actually, square enix never learned. alienating the leading console of this generation is a stupid idea that cyrstal’s executive resigned (or might have been booted out). the same goes for ff vii remake. it should not be time exclusive because it is such an iconic game. in any case, square likes to bet wrongly and makes stupid mistake in my opinion.

What good are those games when you don’t have huge multiplat like tomb raider?

Tomb Raider is gaming thats a what gaming is playing tomb raiders. WTF kinda console is the ps4 if it didn’t get the latest one.

      • jian_sadako

rotr is not the end all be all of this generation’s gaming. further, admit it or not, square never learned. alienating the leading console of this generation (even microsoft want to end this console generation much earlier because they are not the leader) is a stupid idea that an executive of crystal resigned (or might have been booted). definitely, if i’m part of the board, heads will definitely roll. the same goes for ff vii remake. i don’t think it’s a good idea to make it a time exclusive either. it’s such an iconic game to be just for ps4.

      • 54nakaD

You act as if it’s not coming to ps4. It is coming to ps4 but nobody wants the game. Heck, Xbox owners could have made this a smash hit but it sold horribly on Xbox systems, compared to the last game. And Uncharted outsold RotTR by 5 to 1 ratio in only 6 weeks. SE see the sales you lost? Lol

  • Zoulik

I have been waiting for the year now but it’s definitely not the longest I’ve waited for an amazing title. Can’t wait to hear news on it. Played the first game, loved it, have the 18 comics to the second game, and I don’t want to buy an Xbox One for the second game. Bring this undoubtedly amazing title to the PS4!

  • 54nakaD

I would have bought this day one if it came out last year for ps4, but now I’m waiting for Bargain bin used, so no new sales will be attributed to this franchise. I do have an Xbox but I believe the ps4 version will come with all the dlc. I’m also punishing SE by not buying FF15. They want to screw over their most loyal fanbase then this is what it comes too. Besides I’m more excited for No Man’s Sky, BF1, COD, and Horizon

    • GHO5T-8-12-80

Agree with u there m8 screw them

  • doesn’t matter , I will not buy it on PS4
    not now not ever

  • GHO5T-8-12-80

Lara was born on playstaion with a massive fan base that has loyally kept her goin for years to make it exclusive to xbox was a kick in the teeth to there loyal fans who lets face it obviously dont matter to square enix. I for one will never purchase another square enix title again if tombraider is cancelled and abet alot of other ps4 users will be the same.
