Karim Benzema looks like he’s going to miss his team’s play against Manchester City on Wednesday. He and Cristiano Ronaldo went to Valdebebas training complex on Saturday for some training recovery following their injuries.
Benzema looks worse for the wear as Daily Mail reports he might miss the entire second leg of the semi-finals Champions league. Isco and Jese were also seen waiting on the sidelines during Real Madrid’s last game. If this means anything, it is an indication that they might be replacing the missing Ronaldo and Benzema on the upcoming Wednesday game.
Although his team is missing key players, manager Zidane has faith in his remaining players that they will deliver all the goals needed to score a win.
Zidane now looks to Gareth Bale to lead the team to victory after a successful campaign against Real Sociedad last Saturday, ESPN reports.
Real Madrid has also released a medical statement regarding Benzema’s injury saying, “Following tests carried out today on the player Karim Benzema at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Karim Benzema’s right harmstring injury comes after Ronaldo’s thigh injury, causing Real Madrid’s top players on the recovery bench while Bale, Isco and Jese pitch in to deliver the team victory in the upcoming games.
Manager Zidane, however, has no qualms about Ronaldo and Benzema’s absence, praising Bale’s ability to carry on and mitigate the loss.
‘I have every faith in him. I have faith in all my players,’ said Zidane on a Daily Mail report who also praised Bale adding: ‘I’m pleased for him he deserves this because he has worked very hard.’
Real Madrid is scheduled to play against Manchester City on Wednesday, May 4 at for the second leg of the Champions League Semi-final. As with all other games, Real Madrid is prepared to play with or without Karim Benzema or Christiano Ronaldo.
