In the accompanying interview of the publication, she shared how she was bullied as a teenager. The actress said she was 13 when she left India to study in the US. Being the only Indian girl at school proved to be challenging as she was made to feel bad for who she is.

“You know when you’re a kid, and you’re made to feel bad about where your roots are, or what you look like? You don’t understand it, you just feel bad about who you are,” Quantico star Priyanka Chopra said. The bullying proved to be too much that she eventually had to return to India.

Quantico star Priyanka Chopra then shared what she sought to achieve in playing the role of Alex Parrish.

“I wanted to be seen as just an actor, not because of my ethnicity or where I come from. I think global entertainment needs to become like that. It needs to be about the best person for the job rather than what you look like or where you come from.”
