The release of the new PlayStation 4 Pro console is still a few months away but gamers are already anticipating the chance to try out its new features. More details are slowly trickling in from Sony about the console’s new features. Among the upgrades for the PS4 Pro is the 4K resolution. It also promises improved visuals and faster frame rates.
Unfortunately, not all games will be able to take advantage of the 4K upgrade patch immediately. While getting the upgrade has not been completely ruled out for the future, Gamespot revealed a couple of PS4 Pro games that have been confirmed to be skipping the new 4k update at the moment:
- Destiny: The 4K update may become available for this game at a later date but it is currently not in the immediate plans. However, Destiny is releasing a new expansion called Rise of Iron on Sept 20.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: The developers are said to be currently focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent. Therefore, converting the game into a 4K version has taken a back seat.
List of notable games that have not yet released information about a possible 4K update:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered
- Battlefield 1
- FIFA 17
- Final Fantasy XV
Meanwhile, Sony mentioned a few games that are confirmed to be getting some benefits from the release of the PS4 Pro upgrade patch:
- Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
- The Witness
The Sony PlayStation 4 Pro is scheduled to be released on Nov 10, 2016. The console is projected to cost US$399. The console is not considered to be a next-generation development. However, it is described to “complement” the current PS4 and is targeted towards higher-end gamers.
