Sony is offering a deal for its existing customers. For those who already owns PlayStation Move controllers and the PlayStation 4 camera, Sony is giving an opportunity to grab a virtual reality headset, for which interested customers will have to pre-order the devices.
Sony is organizing a sale of pre-orders which is scheduled to commence on Mar. 29 at 7 a.m. Pacific time. PlayStation users can order the PlayStation VR core packages which cost US$400 (AUD 527). It is worth noting that the package does not include other than the headset and its cables. Previously, Sony sold the Launch bundle that costs US$500 (AUD 659), which includes a camera and two motion controllers. Sony is also selling the US$500 launch bundle which will go on sale for Tommorrow at 7. am.
Now PlayStation 4 owners have a golden opportunity to pre-order their entry into the VR space. According to tech advisor Digi-Capital forecasts that it could generate US$30billion in spending by 2020.
John Koller, marketing boss of Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed in a blog post that the $400 (AUD 527) preorder is commenced in response to an outcry from fans.
“Thanks to everyone for sharing their feedback on PlayStation VR preorders. It’s clear that there’s a lot of interest from many of you to secure the PlayStation VR core system, and I’m happy to share that we’ve decided to make it available for preorder,” he wrote.
During last week Game Developer’s Conference, Sony came up with this big deal about this core version. The company also says that PSVR is economical when compared to Oculus Rift that costs US$600 (AUD 790) and HTC Vive that costs US$800 (AUD 1054) while PSVR is only priced at US$400 (AUD 527), notes Venture Beat.
However, Sony started selling the Launch Bundle instead of the core bundle when it came time to start actually selling the device. It is a good to move as most of the PS4 owners may not own the camera which is a requirement for PSVR function.
