Thanks to a wealthy grandfather, who made millions from selling soft porn, two half-sisters in London have made their way to the rich list in Britain. Fawn and India Rose James inherited 80 percent of Soho Estates from their grandfather, Paul Raymond when he died and left the company to them.

Raymond, who died in 2008, was famous as the ‘King of Soho’ and built a porn empire by selling sex in London’s West End. His Revue Bar, which started in 1958, became a rage as the UK’s first topless dancing club.

Spurred by its success, he launched a series of soft porn magazines that made him mint money.  Raymond also kept a sustained focus on amassing property in Soho, which has made the grandchildren’s fortune soar high, reports Daily Mail.

Fawn and India Rose James are now worth $909 million after the company made a profit of $34 million in the last financial year and made Rose, 24, the youngest ever entrant on the Rich List.  They are the children of Raymond’s late daughter Debbie, who died in 1992.

Fawn is now 30 and a social anthropology graduate from St Andrews University and lives with her husband Nick Lawson in Green Park.

India Rose owns the Soho Revue, the art gallery she opened with her ex-boyfriend William Pelham.  The upturn in Fawn and India Rose James’s assets value comes despite the fortunes of Britain’s billionaires plummeting under the slump of oil prices and crash in stock markets.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, there is a slowing in the fortunes of the super-rich is in sight.

Interestingly, while the UK-based tycoons experienced a bad year, more women have joined the country’s rich list. The record shows that 125 women were in the top 1,000 wealthy club, including the Queen.

Meanwhile, Howard Raymond, son of late Paul Raymond has rebutted the popular image that his father was a porn seller.

King of Soho had the image of rising high from his working-class roots and building up a huge publishing and property empire. The key beneficiaries in the second generation are his son Howard Raymond and sister Debbie, Paul’s two children from the first wife Jean.

“People have called him a pornographer, but never; never in a million years was its porn. That was the name that was attached to him and the one that stuck, but really it was seaside postcard stuff.”

Howard, 52, is now reflecting on his father’s larger than life for making a film, being directed by Michael Winterbottom, reports The Liverpool Echo.
