The internet exploded yesterday after Nintendo and Niantic Labs launched “Pokemon GO” without warning. However, not everyone was able to play it right away. When will the game’s official global launch be?

Gamers in select countries have been able to download and play the mobile augmented reality game since its launch. The game app first rolled out in Australia, New Zealand and Japan yesterday. Nintendo then made it available in the United States soon after. When can gamers from other parts of the globe get to finally play “Pokemon GO?”

According to ComicBook.com, neither Nintendo nor the Pokemon Company has confirmed a global release date for the game yet. Nintendo’s staggered launch makes sense, though. As reported earlier, “Pokemon GO” will be using real life locations as PokeStops, battlegrounds and gyms. Everything needs to be in place for things to be seamless.

However, some enterprising gamers have begun using android application packages (APK) to download the app from countries other than those mentioned above. However, some gamers themselves have warned against these “illegal” downloads.

One British gamer on Twitter even advised fellow European gamers to delete the app or risk getting banned. “If you have downloaded the APK for Pokemon GO delete it now. They are banning your device and not your account, which is much worse!” he said. Nintendo has yet to verify these reports.
