Pokémon GO may be working on multiplayer gaming options. What seems to inspire the developers is none other than Game of Thrones.
According to Archit Bhargava, the idea is to inspire people to play with their friends. He has been with Niantic for five years now. He said the company wanted to encourage people to have “social fun” with the game.
While Bhargava talks about a possible multiplayer option, he reveals what the developers may have in mind for inspiration. He talked about Game of Thrones, one of the most popular TV shows ever, produced by HBO.
The show involves various families and bloodlines that eventually get together as teams against one another. It seems like the perfect inspiration for a multiplayer game. If one follows the Game of Thrones style in gaming, the possibilities are endless.
Bhargava admits it will be ideal to get inspired by the HBO show. “My personal fantasy is like a Game of Thrones game where Westeros is mapped out on Earth and you join House Stark or whatever,” he says.
It is expected that the community of Pokémon GO gamers will be huge. According to Bhargava, Pokémon fans may soon get much bigger than Ingress, which already has a huge fan base. According to Bhargava, Ingress is not worried since it has been thinking in a totally different way.
Even though Pokémon GO does not have any immediate plans to follow Ingress’ ways, Bhargava’s “fantasy” talks may be a revelation. If Ingress goes on to create gaming options which follow the Game of Thrones style, Pokémon may not be far behind.
Pokémon GO app was launched in Australia on Wednesday. It was launched in the United States on Thursday. Since then, it has been the top grossing app in both the countries. It has grossed higher than popular games like Mobile Strike and Game of War – Fire Age and other apps like Spotify Music and Pandora, AD News reports.
Whether Pokémon GO gets a multiplayer style, with the inspiration from Game of Thrones, is still unknown. But, the fans of the game as well as of the show will wait for it for sure.
