For those Pokémon Go trainers who spend hours looking at their Pokémon map and seeing various silhouettes of Pokémon appear, here are some notable Pokémon you can catch in the game. Unfortunately, for those fans of the second to the sixth generations, Niantic has limited the range of collectible Pokémon to the first generation.
First Gen FrontRunners
Of course, everyone who has started playing Pokémon Go had Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle enthusiastically volunteer themselves as your companion. A beginner can choose from these three Pokémon though a workaround gives you the chance to get Pikachu as your starter Pokémon.
Team Rocket Roster
For those who would like to follow the steps of Jesse and James, be sure to have Arbok, Weezing and the highly conniving Meowth in your Pokédex. Now prepare for trouble, make it double and blast off at the speed of light with this Team Rocket roster. Don’t forget Victreebel though don’t expect victory just yet. While you may not be able to blast off literally, a Blastoise can do that for you.
For dog lovers, there’s Arcanine who will be as extremely loyal to you as its real world counterpart. Though Meowth may inspire distrust, cute Mew and the experimental mishap Mewtwo may make up for it. Eevee is also another interesting Pokémon which can evolve into 8 different types.
Top Teams’ Mascots
Once you reach level 5 as a Pokémon trainer, you are given the chance to join one of the three teams in Pokémon Go. While Team Rocket is not one of them, their mascots are the three legendary birds of Kanto. Ice-cold Articuno leads the blue Team Mystic. Team Instinct is headlined by Zapdos, a thunderbird. Meanwhile, Moltres with its fiery plumage leads Team Valor.
Though Pikachu is the most famous Pokémon, Vulture’s list has put it at the 3rd spot. Charmander gets the fifth spot with its adorable look. Meanwhile, Cubone with his heartbreaking story lands him at the 4th spot of collectibles. Squirtle, the chillest of them all is at the 2nd spot and Charizard secures the number 1 spot due to the Game of Thrones vibe. One might not get Drogo but at least Charizard is there to warm you up as a Pokémon trainer.
