Pokémon GO is here and everyone is out and about trying to be their very best at it. For those of you who are finding it a bit difficult, here are 10 tricks you should know.
1.The size of the circle tells you the probability of you catching that Pokémon.
Instead of doing a lot of throws, wait for the circle to get to its smallest possible size. This means if you throw the Pokéball at it, you’ll be likely to capture it.
2. The app tells you how hard it is to catch a certain Pokémon.
Green means it’s relatively easy. Yellow is a moderate catch while red is the hardest one to catch.
3. You can get Pikachu as a starter Pokémon.
Now the question is how? At the start of the game, choose none when it asks you to pick among Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle. Run away and decline for about 3 to 4 times. After that, you will see Pikachu joining you for the quest, Forbes notes.
4. Rustling leaves means there’s a Pokémon nearby.
When you go in game and see them, pay close attention as a wild Pokémon is there. To make it easier for you to catch it, view the Pokémon in the virtual world reality setting.
5. Visit Pokéstops whenever you can.
Get free items from Pokéstops and try to revisit for new freebies.
6. Send duplicate Pokémon to Professor Willow.
If you catch a lot of Charmander or Horsea for example, you can divest yourself of them and send them to Professor Willow instead. After transferring, Professor Willow will give you candy for your Pokémon.
7. You cannot cheat to hatch your eggs.
Hatching an egg requires you walk for a certain distance. For those of you thinking a walk on the treadmill will do the trick, think again. Pokémon GO tracks your distance through a GPS rather than a pedometer so your treadmill exercise will not be counted.
8. Taking over a gym needs more than just one battle.
Defeating a gym owner once does not make you the gym owner. You actually have to decrease the gym’s reputation to zero to make it a neutral ground. Once you’re a gym owner, you will need to have it for at least 24 hours before you get all the freebies gym owners get. If battling and taking over is hard right now, you can sign up with “friendly gyms” and leave a Pokémon of yours.
9. Catch different types of Pokémon by going out at different times in the day/night.
If you’ve been catching or seeing the same wild Pokémons, try searching at a different time at a different place. As is its wont, you will find Pokémon close to their natural elements.
10. When you close the app, the game stops entirely.
Sadly, Pokémon GO does not let you passively play. Thus, it means you have to be a committed Pokémon GO master like Ash to succeed.
