The legendary pirate of the seven seas, Jack Sparrow, took time off from filming the fifth installment of “The Pirates of the Caribbean” series to pay sick kids a visit at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
Actor Johnny Depp, dressed as his infamous pirate character, surprised the children when he arrived at the hospital riding an “out of ordinary black helicopter”, ABC described.
Among the lucky kids who were able to hang out with Depp was Max Bennett, one of the patients of Lady Cilento. Max suffers from a rare neurological illness that required him to be on life support just weeks ago. According to ABC, he was having dinner with his Mum when they noticed the helicopter. Nurses confirmed the actor was in the hospital.
As a huge fan of Jack Sparrow, Max could not explain how happy he was after finally meeting his favorite character.
“He tied a knot in his hair to make a beard, that was my favourite part,” Max told ABC.
Max’s mom also shared, “We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max.”
Johnny Depp told the staff that he would like his visit to be kept private. However, pictures of him taking selfies with other patients spread across social media and later became viral. You can see some of the photos posted on Twitter via abcnews.go.com.
“The Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has been filming since the first quarter of the year in Queensland’s Gold Coast and Raby Bay Harbour in eastern Brisbane. The movie, which stars Depp as protagonist Jack Sparrow, is said to be the most expensive film made in Australia, the Daily Telegraph noted.
The 5th movie installment in the Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films series, “Pirates of the Caribbean 5″ is expected to hit big screens on July 7, 2017.
