Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach got emotional during her farewell speech at the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 pageant. For the last time, before she passed on the crown to the new Binibining Pilipinas Universe, Wurtzbach walked the stage.
The reigning Binibining Pilipinas Universe took her time to thank everyone who helped on her journey to become Miss Universe, GMA News reported.

“In this moment, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the people who have helped me win Miss Universe. If not for you, I would not have achieved this humble achievement,” she told the audience present at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
To her successor, she said: “Remember to give your best. Behind that beautiful gown, your knees might be trembling. Like me right now, I’m still not used to it. I’m still not used to it. Being in front of millions can be nerve wracking. You have to remember that you are wearing that sash that proudly says Philippines. In your moment of doubt you, remember that you have the whole country cheering you on,” Pia Wurtzbach added to gained roar from the audience.
“Tonight is the beginning of a journey for a confidently beautiful Filipina,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mikhail Varshavski, also known as “Doctor Mike,” posted a sweet tweet for Wurtzbach following her emotional farewell.
“Even though tonight you’re giving up the crown, you’ll forever be my Miss Philippines!,” Varshavski wrote.
After tagging the beauty queen and using the pageant’s hashtag, he also hastagged “#comebacksoon” and ended with a heart emoji.
Just days before the pageant, Pia Wurtzbach admitted for the first time that she is dating the doctor, Rappler wrote.
Varshavski is a second year medical resident and was once named by People magazine’s “Sexiest Doctor Alive.”
In March, Wurtzbach confirmed in an interview with Extra that she was dating someone, while Dr. Mike revealed that he is going out with Wurtzbach, saying: “I am dating Pia. It’s a fairly new relationship but I’m really excited to see where it can go!”
The two first met in February during a dinner with friends in New York City.
