‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 3 New Trailer, Poster Combines Horror & Art [WATCH]

“Penny Dreadful Season 3” teases with a new trailer and posters — all of which are frightful works of art.

The new poster features a person on the brink of losing sanity whose posture seemingly forms a screaming skull.

As for the teaser trailer, it shows what’s in store for the protagonists Ethan Chandler, Vanessa Ives, Sir Malcolm Murray, John Clare, Dorian Grey and Dr. Victor Frankenstein which are portrayed by Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Rory Kinnear, Reeve Carney and Harry Treadaway.

In the trailer, Ethan Chandler will hopefully be reunited with Vanessa Ives. Sir Malcolm Murray appears to be in a struggle with someone while Lily and Dorian Grey become influential couples. There also seem to be an army of zombies breaking in. These are but a few notable observations made by TVLine from the trailer.

According to IGN, Penny Dreadful is a horror drama series made for British-American TV, specifically Showtime. A wealthy British explorer, an American gunslinger, a psychic medium band together to battle the supernatural threats in Victorian London.

The term “Penny Dreadful” is coined from the cheap sensational publication costing about a penny and usually revolves around detectives and the paranormal. In line with that, the TV series made sure to include iconic characters from literature and reimages them to fit the Penny Dreadful universe. It is believed that the infamous Dr. Henry Jekyl, a stylish gentleman who involuntarily transforms into a murderous monster, will make an appearance in the horror series third season.

Other iconic characters from literary classics are Dorian Grey, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Mina Harker and Abraham Van Helsing. It is also worthy of note that Dalton previously played the iconic James Bond in “License to Kill” while Green was cast as Vesper Lynd, the Bond girl in “Casino Royale.”

The TV series is created by John Logan along with executive producer Sam Mendes.

“Penny Dreadful” returns this May.
