BBC’s Peaky Blinders is back for a third season. This time, the drama goes to great extremes of violence and passion.
The first episode went head on into Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and Grace Burgess’ (Annabelle Wallis) relationship. Viewers will recall that in Season 2, Tommy enjoyed a short-lived romance with an aristocrat named May Carleton (Charlotte Riley) during Grace’s period of disappearance. Tommy and Grace rekindled their romance by the end of Season 2.
Tommy and Grace tied the knot in Peaky Blinders Season 3. Unfortunately for the couple, their merriment was also mired with a few mishaps here and there. Tommy’s brother Arthur got into a fight with a Russian after which Arthur shot his enemy dead.
What’s more, Tommy had just sealed an arms trade deal to provide weapons to loyalists White Russians who are plotting to usurp Russia’s communist government run by the Bolshevik Reds. Although Tommy should be pissed that the Russians did business with him on his wedding, a generous upfront payment was enough to keep him quiet.
This is the start of Peaky Blinder’s global takeover. The lucrative deal puts Tommy in the middle of an international arms deal that could influence how the Western world recovers from the First World War.
The show’s premiere episode once again proves that it is capable of staging an exceptional story. The buzz surrounding the Steven Knight period piece has reverberated across the United States where Netflix has purchased the broadcast license for the drama. The Independent reports Peaky Blinders Season 3 will be available on Netflix starting May 31.
Meanwhile, fans took to social media to express their appreciation for the flawlessly executed Season 3 premiere. According to Daily Mail, even big movie stars such as Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Tom Cruise are hooked on the drama. Knight, who is currently working with Pitt on a movie called Allied, said he would love to get him a role in Peaky Blinders Sseason 4.
Peaky Blinders Season 3 airs every Thursday on BBC2.
