Paris Shootings Update: Standoff Between Police & Paris Attacks Mastermind Happening Now


A shootout out broke out in St Denis, Paris between the French police and a man believed to be the mastermind of the Friday Paris Attacks.

Armed policemen of the RAID unit are holding up three men suspected to be related to the attacks in the French city that killed over 129 people.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 27, is believed to be the mastermind of the bombings and shootout over the weekend. The other two include Salah Abdeslam, a suspect of a manhunt in the country, and an unidentified male suspected to be the “ninth attacker” in Paris, The Guardian reported.

The shootout began around 4:30 am (0330 GMT) at an apartment in the northern town bordering Paris, near the Stade de France where one of the bombings happened last week. According to NDTV, three suspects had been arrested so far, while three other terrorists have already been killed, including a woman who blew herself up during the shootout.

According to sources, the shootout have gone for more than three hours.

“There are men from RAID shooting from the rooftops,” Djihane, a witness to the shootout, told France Inter radio, notes NDTV.

“We’ve been told to lie on the floor and not go to the windows.”

Another source told BBC, ”I’ve been hearing gunshots continuously, like fireworks…There have been some breaks but…to me it sounds like continuous gunshots.”

A recent update by a reporter noted that troops were entering the scene of the shootout at St Denis. Two policemen are reported to have been injured at the standoff.

Last Friday, several shootings and bombings happened around Paris. The attacks have resulted in the deaths of 129 people and several hundred more injured. The ISIS has taken responsibility for the bombings and since the attacks, several countries —including France and Russia — have raged war against the Syrian terrorists.
