An Aussie film won big at this year’s Academy Awards. “Mad Max: Fury Road” won six Oscars in total.
According to The Guardian, the film picked up trophies for costume design, production design, make-up and hair, and film editing. The “Mad Max” sound team also won big for sound editing and sound mixing. The popular Aussie film has earlier received a record 10 nominations.
The Daily Telegraph earlier predicted that the Oscars this year would be “one of the most unpredictable Academy Awards in years.” Betters at TAB.com.au were earlier not exactly loving the Aussie film’s chances at winning the Oscar for Best Picture. “Mad Max” was only tied with “The Martian” at $51 (around US$36). The Aussie film’s chances, however, were deemed better than two other films. “Bridge of Spies” and “Brooklyn” were tied at a mere $67 (around US$47). “The Revenant” meanwhile was a favorite among the site’s betters at $1.50 (around US$1).
The film’s director was meanwhile previously a favorite among bookies. Director George Miller’s odds were earlier seen only second to “The Revenant” director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Miller was at $7 (around US$5), while Inarritu was at $1.15 (around US$0.8).
Aussie actress Cate Blanchett was also up for another Oscar this year. She received a Best Actress nomination for her role in the drama “Carol.” The actress has previously won two Oscar statuettes for acting. According to The Academy, Blanchett is one in six other actors nominated for the same character in two different films. The other actors are Sylvester Stallone, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Peter O’Toole and Bing Crosby.
Meanwhile, “Mad Max” will reportedly act as inspiration for Fifth Harmony’s latest music video. The video for the still unconfirmed single, “She’s My Girl,” reportedly might be the group’s “best video yet.”
The 88th Academy Awards was held in Los Angeles this year.
